Spotlight Race: Ruben Gallego for Senate
Ruben Gallego is a decorated war veteran in a state that respects veterans. He’s a Latino in a state where the Latino vote matters. He’s an outspoken progressive Democrat with a fighting spirit. He was one of the first sitting members of Congress to sign the No Fossil Fuel Money pledge. Climate Hawks Vote endorsed him in his first Congressional run in 2014. In short, he’s a tremendous upgrade over Krysten Sinema. More than 80% of Arizona climate hawks voted to endorse him right away when surveyed.

Spotlight Race: Yassamin Ansari for Congress
Yassamin Ansari has served as a Phoenix City council member and vice-mayor. She has a very strong background in climate advocacy, beginning with working on the Paris Climate Agreement and serving under California’s then-Gov. Jerry Brown. She ran a successful campaign for Phoenix city council where she led the charge to create the city’s first Climate Action Plan, electrify the city bus fleet, created a heat mitigation office, and voted to fund public parks.

Spotlight Race: Kirsten Engel for Congress
Kirsten Engel is a law professor and former state legislator who also wrote the Massachusetts vs. EPA brief asking the Supreme Court to regulate greenhouse gasses. In 2022, after a competitive primary, she lost the general election by a very close margin. In 2024, Kirsten is running with unified party support to win in a district that is one of the few red-to-blue flippable districts in the country. And Arizona is going to be a critical state this fall.
