Sam represents the American dream with a distinct climate flair. The son of working class immigrants, he’s worked in both government and the private sector to support the clean energy revolution, from solar power to electric vehicles -- and he's signed our pledge not to take money from the fossil fuel industry.
We’re endorsing climate hawk Sam Jammal to replace climate peacock Ed Royce in California’s 39th Congressional district–and fight for the American dream.
Ed Royce’s constituents are furious. Royce—a member of the misleadingly named Climate Solutions Caucus—voted for H.R. 1, the tax scam bill to hike taxes on middle class Californians and transfer wealth to corporations like Exxon and Koch Industries. That bill is opening up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling for the first time ever–it’s the opposite of a climate solution. But Royce would rather listen to his polluter paymasters than the people he’s supposed to represent.
In contrast, Sam represents the American dream with a distinct climate flair. The son of working class immigrants, he’s worked in both government and the private sector to support the clean energy revolution, from solar power to electric vehicles. We’re excited about Sam, and so are his future constituents—our in-district members overwhelmingly voted for Sam in our member survey about the primary.
California’s 39th district, a top “Red to Blue” national priority, has changed since 1993 when Ed Royce was first elected. He hasn’t. Voters here preferred Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump, 51.5 to 42.9%, and a recent poll finds that a generic Democrat would beat Royce 48-44. With his strong record as a champion for climate action, for civil rights, and for the American dream, Sam Jammal can defeat Ed Royce.
Sam has signed our pledge not to take money from the fossil fuel industry, so to beat Royce, he needs support from climate hawks like us. And with your support, he can oust a vulnerable Republican who just voted for tax cuts for Exxon—and tax increases on most of California’s middle class.
Together, we can replace Ed Royce with a true climate champion—fossil-free climate hawk Sam Jammal.
