U.S. Senate - Arizona

Mark Kelly

Free ebooks Library Z-Library project Immediate Prospect

Mark, the astronaut husband of Rep. Gabby Giffords, is running unopposed in the primary. He knows that climate-magnified Phoenix heatwaves literally kill Arizonans. As an astronaut, he’s not only seen Earth from space, but he’s seen the devastation. Stopping deforestation and wildfires are among the inspirations for his Senate run. As a former engineer, he’ll respect science, whether climate science or epidemiology. And he knows that Arizona could be building a lot more solar energy than it is now. We’re endorsing climate hawk Mark Kelly to be the next United States Senator representing Arizona.

Mark’s opponent, Martha McSally, is a climate denier. She’s already lost one expensive, high profile Senate race (against Kyrsten Sinema in 2018), then was appointed to finish the term of the late John McCain. On March 6, as the coronavirus began its spread, she told Arizonans to “go on spring break.” She uses her power on the Energy & Natural Resources Committee to push bills to make it easier for the federal government to transfer lands to state, local, and private interests — like oil, gas, and uranium companies.

Early polls generally show a toss-up race. Mark has a fundraising advantage but Arizona is historically a red state. This will be one of the marquee Senate races of 2020.

Arizona is a must-win Senate race. We hope you’ll join the mission for this climate hawk!
